Peter Ainsworth

Peter Ainsworth is a self-taught painter working largely in soft pastels.

Peter likes to explore the changing moods of landscape under different lighting and through the seasons. The East Riding and Yorkshire Wolds provide boundless inspiration. The Lincolnshire Wolds yield similar riches. Another area he loves to paint lies just south of Sheffield in NE Derbyshire between the Ford Valley and the village of Marsh Lane.
Peter moved to the East Riding in 2019 after an academic career in Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. Finding space to paint at Calf House Studios has proved a tremendous blessing. It’s not just a place to work: you meet other artists and craftspeople with whom you can share ideas.
