Alison Brayshaw makes hand thrown pots fired in an oxidized atmosphere. She uses porcelain clay as it has an innate beauty and fineness. Her pots are functional – semi domestic ware. They are for holding, using and displaying.

Alison is heavily influenced by the tradition of British studio ceramics which forms the basis to her artistic language. Through the process of throwing she strives to make the perfect form, using the vessel shape as a starting point. She uses slip created during the throwing process together with a celadon glaze to add depth to the finished surface of the pot.

Alison is a member of Northern Potters and a Full member of ERA (East Riding Artists).
